#Destination Jewellery Is the New Normal

Diamonds are a favourite among women, that much is true.
Women also adore jewellery composed of noble metals or pearls, including gold, silver, and platinum.
Traditionally, females would wear jewellery made of such priceless materials, but nowadays, the majority of young brides-to-be choose synthetic jewellery to accessories themselves on the big night.
There are plenty of original designs and concepts available here, as many well-known designers nowadays have started their own lines of copycat jewellery.

In the old days, women may have classified their jewellery into gold, diamonds, and ugly-stuff-from-mummyji. These days, the baubles are divided into two categories: ‘locker jewellery’ and ‘destination jewellery. The former is hardly worn; the latter is a fast-growing market catering to destination weddings.
Destination jewellery is fake jewellery made to look so real that even the bride car wear it and look fabulous on Instagram. With more and more weddings taking place on Thailand’s beaches and Venetian palaces, women are loath to carry their real jewellery and risk being stopped at customs or being robbed. Recognising this trend, many jewellers are shifting focus from their real gems usiness to creating gorgeous fakes.

Why Imitation Bridal Jewelry is Best?

Affordable:

When compared to gold and diamond sets, artificial jewellery is less expensive.
The average person still cannot afford bulky jewellery made of gold and diamonds.
As an alternative, brides can wear bulky replica jewellery. Because these items are finely created and made of high-quality, long-lasting materials, they often resemble and even outperform the original jewellery.

Easier to Carry anywhere you go! | DUH’ Destination Jewellery

“I advise all my clients to get destination jewellery,” says Amit Shah, jeweller and government-appointed valuer who has stopped his real gems business, and now caters exclusively to the destination market. “Recently, three of my clients got caught at customs and their silk pouches were just taken away even though it was all declared. They hadn’t done their proper paperwork.”
Taking real jewellery abroad entails a tedious process where the traveller has to get a government-appointed valuer to value the pieces and give the assessment in triplicate. Shah explains that each item must be photographed separately, again in triplicate. Then, the client has to carry all the documents, including the wedding card and a covering letter, along with the jewels packed in a box, and drag herself to the Diamond Bourse at Bandra-Kurla in Mumbai, or the equivalent in other cities, where a customs officer weighs the jewellery, counts the diamonds, verifies the valuation, and seals the box.

Safe To Keep At Home:

Last but not least, theft is a common reason why many would-be brides and their families these days prefer that the bride wears imitation jewelry on her D-day. Fine jewelry is way too expensive which makes them an easy target of modern-day thieves. With artificial and fashion jewelry there are no such issues. Even if they are stolen you can always heave a sigh of relief that you are bereft of inexpensive jewelry items. Also, when you wear the real metallic jewels, you are always conscious about them getting lost or being misplaced. With imitation jewelry, you can relax and go with the flow of the event on your marriage day.

I would always always vote for real jewellery. I see a lot of girls cribbing that why would you want gold and diamond sets when they will just be stuck in your bank locker? Don’t buy such jewellery then. I bought three small neck pieces for my wedding and wore them in layers. Did not buy heavy jhumkas, but smaller earrings and then added a wow factor with pearl earchains. You have to buy your jewellery smartly – whether real or fake. I would say your wedding is the only time where you are actually inclined to buy a ton of jewellery and that can be a major investment for your future so buy the real jewellery plus your parents will be over the moon!

Choosing the right jewelry for your wedding day

Since wedding jewelry is heavy, it usually does not get worn quite often. Buying detachable jewelry – real or artificial is advisable.
The earrings should be in sync with the hairstyle while the necklace should be completely synchronized with the neckline of your dress. When buying the Maang Tika, it is important to understand the size of one’s forehead and accordingly choose an appropriate size. Also, when choosing the nose ring it is important to choose according to the shape and size of the face.
Wedding days are special and you would want to look your best. The jewelry should be such that it highlights the dress and vice versa. Pay attention to the design, the colors being used and the style to choose the perfect one for your special day.

Costume jewellery all the way! I always knew I wanted those picture-perfect looks as a bride and I knew that buying heavy kundan and jadau sets that match my outfit is a waste. So I went with imitation jewellery and I must tell you that at least 10 other brides-to-be and mothers loved my decision at my wedding. Not only did my bridal shots come perfect, I can now lend that jewellery to friends and sisters without worrying or even carry it for destination weddings!
